Metaflam

Metaflam contains the NSAID Meloxicam. It can be used in dogs 6 months or older. Meloxicam works in the same way as Carprofen (inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) resulting in lower production of prostaglandins, and as a result provides pain control. However, the ratio of COX 2 inhibition to COX 1 inhibition is lower than that of Carprofen.
METAFLAM is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with both acute and chronic musculo-skeletal disorders.

Tablets

  • Initial dose 0.2mg/kg bw
  • Maintenance dose 0.1mg/kg bw

Suspension

  • Initial dose 4 drops/kg bw
  • Maintenance dose 2 drops/kg bw
